Greetings,

With nine difficult days left before we deliver our final report, we’re sending thanks in this third-to-last edition of Ubuntu Weekly to all who continue to support this process through volunteering, donations, prayers, etc.
  • We’re especially thankful and pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Storey, the Duke Divinity School visiting professor who chaired the selection panel for South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, will be among the speakers at our ceremony on May 25 (details below).
  • Special thanks, too, to a quartet of Duke University students who raised funds and awareness for our work through a course last semester on “Arts and Human Rights.” Visit our blog to learn more.
  • Volunteer of the Week: David Cunningham, associate professor of sociology at Brandeis University who agreed to lend his COINTELPRO research to our final report after meeting us at the “Southern Exposure” conference in March at the Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation. Thanks, David!
  • This week’s progress indicator: Our official total of GTRC Report Receivers now stands at 47, and includes the Greensboro Neighborhood Congress, the Greensboro Police Department, numerous religious congregations, the Pulpit Forum of Greensboro and Vicinity and the Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro.
