Greetings,

While we collect last bits of information and devote countless hours to digesting it, we’re encouraged to hear from more and more community members that they’re eagerly anticipating our final product, which will be released in both printed and multimedia formats.
  • A committee of Commissioners and staff met last week on planning that product, brainstorming and reviewing CD-ROMs created by the truth commissions in Peru and South Africa, and by the Cincinnati Police-Community Relations Collaborative.
  • We welcome contributions – both of ideas for helpful components to include in our multimedia report and of money. The more resources we have to work with, the better able we’ll be to make our work accessible to many different audiences.
  • Volunteer of the Week: Lya Wesley Britt, who came to visit Greensboro during our second public hearing and got pressed into service making the video log notes that are now making it easier to cull key footage for our hearing DVDs and multimedia report. Thanks, Lya!
  • This week’s progress indicator: Commissioners will discuss the first complete report chapter draft at their meeting this week. The chapter covers the sequence of events surrounding Nov. 3, 1979, and the preceding incident in China Grove.
